Blackwell in the Peak is a small hamlet with just 10 houses and a few small farms. Nearby Taddington is a larger village with a church and two pubs.

The Queens Arms is in the centre of the Village whilst the Waterloo Hotel is on the outskirts adjacent to the main A6. Both pubs are within easy walking distance.

Taddington Well Dressings and Flower Festival are usually held around mid-late august.

The Location ...

Visitors to Beech Croft will find a wealth of historic houses, delightful villages, busy market towns and a wide range of beautiful scenery within easy reach.

Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Calke Abbey, Hardwick Hall, Lyme Hall and Kedleston Hall are all just a short drive away whilst the site is centrally located to visit Buxton, Bakewell, Castleton, Matlock, Ashbourne and Leek - each have something individual to offer.

The Spa Town of Buxton has beautiful Victorian and Edwardian buildings, a fine park, indoor shopping centre and a range of antiques and collectors fairs. Bakewell is, of course, home of the Bakewell Pudding and well worth exploring. Castleton takes its name from Peveril Castle, which dominates the village. There are a number of Caves to visit and the village is famous for its unique blue stone.

Matlock has a lot to offer and the spectacular location of Matlock Bath is the setting for a mining museum, cable car rides and show caves. Ashbourne and Leek are both lovely Market Towns which offer a good range of shops, art galleries, antique shops, pubs and restaurants.

The villages which nestle in the hollows of the Peak District National Park are numerous and well worth a visit.
